The newest rage in group fitness is City Row. In case you haven’t read The Boys in the Boat or participated in crew, rowing is really, really hard work. I am sure you have seen those rowing machines in the corner of the gym that are rarely used compared to the treadmill or bike. However, enterprising entrepreneurs have developed Cityrow which recently opened its second location on the Upper East Side (the first location is in Union Square). The workout is billed as high intensity and low impact, including both rowing and mat work. The instructors make it a lot of fun and it is a great change up from Spinning (Soul Cycle) and Boxing (Shadowbox). After a few classes you will be in shape and ready for race day!
